Privacy Policy
Short version: Sift reads your screenshots on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded, and we don't collect any data about you.
This is also what Sift's App Store privacy label says. Sift has no server, no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
This website (not the app) counts anonymous page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and stores no personal data.
Who we are
Sift is made by Charles Ley Baldemor, an independent developer based in the Philippines ("we", "us"). Questions: charlesleyb24@gmail.com.
Your screenshots and Photos access
Sift asks for access to your Photos library so it can find your screenshots. On your iPhone, Sift:
- reads the text in each screenshot with Apple's on-device Vision framework;
- sorts it into a collection and picks out details such as flight numbers, codes, totals, dates and addresses, using rules that run on the phone and, on supported iPhones, Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence);
- stores a reference to each screenshot (its Photos identifier) and what it learned — title, collection, recognized text, details, and your decisions — in the app's private storage on your iPhone.
Sift never copies your screenshots into its own storage and never sends screenshot images, recognized text, extracted details or your searches anywhere. Photos stays the source of truth.
Deleting screenshots
Sift deletes screenshots from Photos only when you ask: you review a batch inside Sift, then confirm Apple's own system prompt. Deleted screenshots stay in Photos › Recently Deleted for 30 days. "Archive", "Keep" and collections only change Sift's own records, not your Photos library.
Search
Search runs entirely on your iPhone. Recent searches are stored on the device so you can reuse them, and you can clear them in the app.
Notifications, Calendar and Contacts
Reminders, expiry alerts and the optional daily digest are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. "Add to Calendar" and "Save to Contacts" open Apple's own editors, pre-filled on the device; Sift doesn't read your calendars or contacts.
Widgets and Shortcuts
Widgets show a small summary (for example, how many screenshots are waiting and what expires next) that Sift saves in a container shared only with its own widgets on your iPhone.
Purchases
Sift Pro subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't receive your payment details. Sift checks with Apple's StoreKit whether you have an active subscription — this is the only network traffic Sift makes. Apple's handling of purchases is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Backups
Sift's on-device data may be included in your iPhone's encrypted iCloud or computer backups, which are controlled by you and Apple. We have no access to them.
Your choices
- Change or remove Photos access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › Sift.
- Turn notifications off in Settings › Notifications › Sift.
- Delete everything Sift stored by deleting the app. Your Photos library is not affected.
Children
Sift doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Because we don't collect or hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side. This policy is written to meet the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012, the EU/UK GDPR and similar laws. If you have questions or a concern, email charlesleyb24@gmail.com.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
